After each matchday programme this season, we publish the regular column from the Coventry City board on our website. You can read Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy's column our game against Cardiff City below:
Good evening and welcome to tonight’s game as we face Cardiff City here at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the Sky Bet Championship.
I would like to welcome the players, staff, officials and fans who join us from Cardiff for this game.
Just four days after Saturday’s excellent home victory against Middlesbrough here at the Arena, we again have the opportunity to continue our progress against another side that I have no doubt will be around the contenders for promotion this season.
Saturday’s performance by the team was arguably as good as I’ve witnessed in my period of time at the Club and it once again was a ‘team effort’. However once again you the Sky Blue Army were our twelfth man and the atmosphere for all three home league games so far this season has been phenomenal. At risk of repeating myself, your support is hugely appreciated by all of us at the Club.
The back end of last week saw the first deliveries being made of our Ricoh Return Membership shirt, and it always gives me pleasure to see supporters wearing their shirts with pride and to see so many at the Arena on Saturday was fantastic. The second and third dispatches of shirts are due shortly, so all supporters who have ordered their shirts will receive them soon.
Again, another huge thank you from the Club for supporting the Membership product, which went on sale at a time when Government restrictions had still not been lifted and there was uncertainty about spectators being able to attend games in anything other than reduced capacity numbers. We thank you sincerely for that unswerving support.
Shortly we will be launching a new product that will hopefully excite Sky Blues fans. I have always felt disappointment that we could not properly celebrate the 2019/20 League One championship success. As I have said previously, I would have dearly loved players and supporters to have been able to celebrate together with an open top bus parade as we did for the League Two Play-Off win, though we all knew this was never going to be possible and we made the best of what we could with the online Promotion Party and firework finale.
We will be launching a special book to celebrate the season shortly. It will be initially available online to pre-order soon. This will be a book full of great photos and memories from the season, and there will also be a limited edition hard back version with a special feature, with these limited edition copies also personally signed by Manager Mark Robins. This hopefully prove to be a special keep sake for Sky Blues supporters young and old, and help them to look back on a memorable campaign.
Thank you for your support, enjoy tonight’s game – PUSB
