NEWS: Coventry City announce the Barrie Wells Trust as charity partner for 2021/22 season

10 September 2021

Coventry City are delighted to announce the Barrie Wells Trust as a charity partner of the Sky Blues for the 2021/22 season.

Coventry City have again teamed up with the Barrie Wells Trust on the Box4Kids project, to give seriously ill children the opportunity to enjoy Sky Blues games from comfortable VIP boxes, and now as a new charity partner.

These much-deserved box experiences provide quality time for each deserving child and their guest, away from the day-to-day challenges they face with their illnesses. Children who receive the experience through the Box4Kids project have a physical illness, disease or disability that is serious or life limiting.

Some of the highlights that children can enjoy include a fantastic atmosphere, incredible hospitality, food and drink, and meeting mascots – as well as 90 minutes of pulsating football action!

The Sky Blues have worked alongside the Barrie Wells Trust since 2019, both at the Arena and at St Andrew’s, to provide this much deserved opportunity to these children and their families, and are now extending this further with today’s news.

Children and their families have already enjoyed Sky Blues games against Nottingham Forest and Reading so far this season, and there will be more deserving guests through this project at all of our league games at the Coventry Building Society Arena this season.

Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy said:

“We are delighted to continue working with the Barrie Wells Trust, both to provide this experience for children and their families who really deserve it and now as a charity partner of Coventry City.

“These children face unimaginable day-to-day challenges and us providing a box on a matchday to them gives them an opportunity for a break away from that and a day that they will remember and enjoy.

“Our Boxes are sold out this year but we were determined to carry on providing this box to the Barrie Wells Trust, and will be supporting the fantastic work they do through this box project and now on a wider basis as a charity partner.”

Barrie Wells, founder and Chairman of the Barrie Wells Trust, said:

“We are delighted and very honoured to become an official charity partner of Coventry City. Coventry are a very special club and their support has been incredible and to now extend the partnership with a guaranteed box and more at every game will really help to ensure many more deserving children and their families can enjoy a VIP day out. After such a difficult few years we are really looking forward to the year ahead and helping to make memories with Coventry’s invaluable support.”
