MISSING MEN: Sky Blues 3-1 Middlesbrough - 2012

Can you remember the missing men from a memorable win against the Boro…

9 September 2021

Ahead of City’s clash with Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday, we take a trip down memory lane and remember a famous victory against our opponents…

Coventry had already taken a point off the Teessiders in the away fixture when Tony Mowbray’s team came down to the Midlands for their Championship clash in January 2012.

After back-to-back wins over Christmas City had renewed momentum going into the new year and Andy Thorn had dipped into the transfer market to bring in two new recruits, that would both make their debuts in the fixture.

The debutants started brightly with one of them assisting a certain academy graduate to open the scoring from 15 yards to give the Sky Blues the lead after 36 minutes.

Just three minutes later Kevin Thomson was sent off for a second yellow card.

After the break the assistant would turn to scorer to double City’s lead in the 57th minute before Boro defender Matthew Bates put through his own net to put the home side in a comfortable position.

The Teessiders would find a consolation through a header from Australian international Scott McDonald but before time was up Julio Arca would also see red as City saw the game out to claim a vital three points.

However, what we want to know is how well do you remember the Sky Blues side from that day? Can you name the starting eleven and the substitutes?

You have 10 minutes to name the full matchday squad, good luck!
