INTERVIEW: Todd Kane Millwall Reaction

The defender reflects on his first start of the season in Sky Blue...

Following Todd Kane’s first start of the season, the defender provided his thoughts on a hard-earned 1-1 draw away at Millwall this afternoon.

Building upon two home wins last week, the Sky Blues maintained strong form to claim a point at The Den courtesy of Viktor Gyökeres’ fifth goal of the season.

“Today I think that we showed great determination,” stated Kane.

“I think it was a really good game, after a tough week I think that is a great point; it’s not easy coming here with the crowd and the way they play.

“I thought we played really well at times, created some really good chances and deserved the three points I felt.”

The last time Todd played a full ninety minutes before this weekend was back in March, and Kane spoke of his satisfaction to complete a solid first start of the season in Sky Blue.

“It’s about opportunities in football and I felt that when I got called upon I was ready.

“With the weather as well it was tough but I grinded through, and with my experience as well, managed the game. I wanted to give my all to the team.

“I’ve been here for nearly two weeks so I understand the way the manager wants to play and having watched the games on the side-line before coming on, I feel that I can fit in really well.

“With the games coming up thick and fast I can get up to speed to help the team going forwards."

Goalscorer Gyökeres’ 9th-minute effort to fire into the far corner from Hyam’s pass made it a third successive game in which the Swedish striker has scored in, and Kane was full of praise for his teammate.

“He’s on great form and he keeps getting chances.

“Today he could’ve had two or three, but as long as he puts them in the back of the net and keeps creating the chances, that’s really positive for himself and for the team as well.”

Now that Kane has a first start under his belt, the 28-year-old outlined what Sky Blues fans can expect in future:

“I like to go forwards, give 110% for the club up and down the wing getting crosses in and I feel that I can bring energy to the team.

“With the games coming up I can only get better with each game and keep learning to become a better player and I feel that signing here with the manager and the team I can do that.”
