Mark Robins is pleased with his sides efforts, which lead them to a win against Cardiff, to extend their unbeaten home run in the league this season.

The Sky Blues battled hard to take all three points against visitors Cardiff, thanks to Viktor Gyökeres’ first-half strike.

Robins was pleased with the team’s performance and has praised his side for earning a win against a well-drilled Cardiff side.

“I think it was a good performance, first and foremost.

“You know what’s coming, and whilst you know what’s coming, you have to deal with it and it was really difficult to deal with.

“The way we went about the work and the way they went about trying to play was fantastic.

"The goal that we created, and Viktor took, was outstanding and on the back of that, the way we played and the way we continued to try and play, the movements and the vision and the awareness, was outstanding, that was brilliant.

“You can always get sucked into what the opposition are trying to do; and what they do, they do it brilliantly, and they make it so difficult for you defensively and to try and keep them out is a real task, so, to keep a clean sheet is outstanding.

“Teams find it really difficult against them [Cardiff], Mick’s a really good manager and has a lot of experience, a lot of know-how.”

After five wins, from a possible seven, Robins reflected positively on his sides start to the season and says hard-work is the way forward for the Sky Blues.

“The ability is there, it’s just making them have the belief.

“The confidence is there because were winning games, but were winning games because of the performances and the quality that we’re producing in training, day in day out.

“We’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing, stay focused and enjoy it, and if we get set backs, just come back, start again and strive to be better than we were the day before.

“We’ll keep them on their feet, nobody gets carried away here, we can certainly be pleased with the evenings work."
