Ahead of City’s clash with Derby County on Saturday, we take a trip down memory lane and remember a famous victory against our opponents…
This week’s edition takes us back to April 2005 with the Sky Blues knowing a win in the final home match of the season would not just secure another season of Championship football but would also provide a fitting farewell to Highfield Road after 113 years.
City broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with a certain home grown forward finding his and his team’s second just nine minutes later.
His two strike partners then got in on the act with the Sky Blues 4-0 up at the break and half way to safety.
Derby did get one back six minutes into the second half through Adam Bolder but any hope of a fightback were extinguished when City’s Caribbean striker netted his 12th of the season.
Paul Peschisolido did find the back of the net for the Rams but in the 68th minute the final goal went in at the famous old ground when an academy graduate, who had only come off the bench a minute earlier, found the back of the net on an emotional day for the majority of the 22,728 crowd!
However, what we want to know is how well do you remember the Sky Blues side from that day? Can you name the starting eleven and the substitutes?
You have 10 minutes to name the full matchday squad, good luck!
