Ahead of City’s clash with Frankie McAvoy’s Preston at Deepdale in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday, we take a trip down memory lane and remember a famous victory against our opponents…
Coventry had taken a point off their Lancashire visitors in their home league fixture a month early when Graham Westley’s team came down to the Midlands for their EFL Trophy clash in January 2013 with a place in the Northern Area Final at stake.
A summer signing from north of the border put City ahead at half time but North End turned the game around when Luke Foster drew them level before Stuart Beavon netted what looked like the winner ten minutes from time.
However, then as in now, Mark Robins’ side was partial to a late drama at the Coventry Building Society Arena with two injury time goals turning the game on it’s head and sending the Sky Blues through to a two legged final with Crewe Alexandra.
However, what we want to know is how well do you remember the Sky Blues side from that day? Can you name the starting eleven and the substitutes?
You have 10 minutes to name the full matchday squad, good luck!
