MISSING MEN: Hull City 0-2 Coventry City - March 2012

Can you remember the missing men from a memorable win against the Tigers…

29 October 2021

Ahead of City’s clash with Grant McCann’s Hull City at the MKM Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship this Saturday, we take a trip down memory lane and remember a famous victory against our opponents…

This week’s edition takes us back to March 2012 with the Sky Blues arriving on Humberside still searching for their first away win of the season.

Buoyed by the previous week’s win at home to Portsmouth, Andy Thorn’s side got off to the perfect start after Hull defender Liam Cooper headed into his own net 13 minutes into the game, after Hull failed to deal with a City free kick.

City went close again when a loanee forward hit the woodwork before the Sky Blues ‘keeper that day was called into action to deny Cameron Stewart after making earlier stops from Matty Fryatt and Robbie Brady.

After an end to end first half, it was Coventry who looked the more dominant in the second and their pressure was rewarded with a second goal four minutes from time to seal the points and City’s first victory on the road that season.

The win also had greater significance in that it secured Thorn’s teams first back to back wins for six months but also saw the Sky Blues jump above Bristol City and out of the relegation zone!

However, what we want to know is how well do you remember the Sky Blues side from that day? Can you name the starting eleven and the substitutes?

You have 10 minutes to name the full matchday squad, good luck!
