Ahead of City’s clash with Scott Parker’s AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship this Saturday, we take a trip down memory lane and remember a famous victory against our opponents…
This week’s edition takes us back to September 1988 when the Sky Blues travelled to the South Coast to face Harry Redknapp’s side in the first leg of their League Cup Second Round tie.
The home side had only lost once so far however they found themselves behind after only ten minutes when John Sillett’s team struck with a fine effort from outside the box.
City doubled their lead on the half hour mark when another effort from range found the back of the net.
Two goals in the space of two minutes just after the hour mark made the second leg a formality for the Sky Blues, with a 3-1 win at Highfield Road ensuring passage to the third round.
However, what we want to know is how well do you remember the Sky Blues side from that day, can you name the starting eleven?
