With two of them in FA Cup First Round action we start with Will Bapaga’s Grimsby Town who fell to a third successive defeat, as they were knocked out of the competition in its 150th year when they lost to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.

Bapaga played the opening hour at Aggborough, before being withdrawn for Lenell John-Lewis, and had the Mariners best chance of the game when the ball was cut back to him by Michee Efete but his effort was saved by Harriers ‘keeper Luke Simpson.

The only goal of the game came from the spot in the 72nd minute when Ashley Hemmings beat Max Crocombe from 12 yards to send the National League North through.

Elsewhere, Danny Cashman’s Rochdale who were held to a 1-1 draw with National League Notts County at Spotland yesterday.

Cashman was an unused substitute, but Corey O’Keeffe gave the Dale the lead on the stroke of half time however Kyle Wootton earned the non-league side a replay just after the hour mark, with a replay scheduled for the 16th November.

Jack Burroughs’ Ross County meanwhile remain bottom of the Scottish Premiership after being unable to repeat their 5-0 away win last time out at Dundee by losing 4-2 in a spirited performance against Rangers.

Burroughs played the first 45 minutes and the Staggies got off the best possible start at Ibrox when Joseph Hungbo gave them the lead in the 6th minute however goals from Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent gave the Gers the lead at half time.

After the break the home side further extended their lead when Juninho Bacuna fired in a third before Alex Iacovitti put through his own net, but Jordan White scored to half the deficit with three minutes remaining.

Finally, ‘keeper Tom Billson is nearing full fitness after injuring his knee on his Football League debut for Scunthorpe United in August.
