INTERVIEW: Kyle McFadzean Swansea Reaction

Defender Kyle McFadzean reflects on Swansea defeat...

3 November 2021

Defender Kyle McFadzean spoke following the Sky Blues’ 2-1 loss to Swansea City about using last night’s disappointment to fuel his side’s efforts on Saturday against Bristol City.

Early strikes from Swansea’s Jamie Paterson and Joel Piroe put the visitors two goals ahead before McFadzean got his name on the scoresheet during the first half, however it was Swansea who claimed the three points.

“We knew what was coming and we just didn’t deal with it, and we didn’t get to grips with it quick enough,” Kyle mentioned.

“We went 2-0 down and sometimes before you know it the game is over, but we did well to get back into it and a fair result probably would have been a draw.

“Both of the goals were disappointing to concede and someone should have cleared it. It was a good finish to be fair to him.

“We deserved something out of the game but at the end of the day we didn’t get anything so we have to move on now to Saturday.”

McFadzean also looked back on his goal last night, when he converted a corner on 28 minutes, and how practice in training proved to be a huge factor:

“We work on it quite a lot, to be fair. It’s nice to get a goal, but we need to get more goals from corners. The delivery is really good from Gus, so that’s a starting point and we need to get more.

“We need more goals from us at the back, and it was nice to get one tonight but I’m disappointed that we’ve lost and I just want Saturday to come around now.

“We still want promotion, but it’s going to be difficult so we have got to take every game one at a time and we need a big win on Saturday to go into the international break.”

The Sky Blues will face Bristol City next at the Coventry Building Society Arena, and McFadzean expressed his hopes for this weekend’s fixture.

“They have got a really good, experienced manager and have some established Championship players, but we’re at home and hopefully can get a win.”
