The striker reflected on a win for the Sky Blues...

7 March 2021

Max Biamou was on the scoresheet after the Sky Blues secured a 1-0 victory against Derby County at St Andrew’s.

Biamou scored early in the game when he was through on goal and was able to dispatch an accurate strike that found the back of the net.

He was pleased to get the three points and revealed how significant it is to beat the sides who are around City in the table.

He said: “It is a massive win for us and this is the kind of game we had to win if you want to stay in this league.

“Every time I just want to win games, I love the club and I want the club to stay in the Championship because we deserve it, last season we finished first in League One so that is why we have to stay here.

“They (Derby) are close to us, that is why we have to win these kinds of games, we have another game next week and there is no other solution, we have to win.”

He then commented on how this was the kind of game he had to score and that working hard to help the team was also important.

He said: “It is hard for strikers to get chances so when we get them, we have to score, I had another one at the end, as strikers we are working hard for the team to defend.

“That is what we have to do, if we want to keep winning games, I cannot just stay up front and wait for the ball.

“We have to work all together as a block and I know at the end if I did it and we win everybody will be happy. We need to score goals, I try to manage and do both, today I did it well and we won.

“That is why it is important for us to score as soon as possible so at the beginning of the game you are feeling good and fresh and I knew if I got a chance in this kind of game, I have to score.”

He was appreciative for the journey he has been on with City and told how that the team knows they must uphold their high standards.

He said: “I am always happy to play for Coventry, I came from League Two and the club gave me the opportunity to play in the Championship.

“You can see if we play our football, we are better than the other teams and that is what we have to do. We know our level and where we are good, so do it and that is what we did today and not the last three games.”
