This week is Volunteers’ Week, and we’re taking this chance to say a big THANK YOU to all of the volunteers across Coventry City Football Club and Sky Blues in the Community for their hard work!
Volunteers’ Week takes place from 1st – 7th June every year and is a chance to celebrate and say thank you for the contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK.
Since the start of the pandemic, the work of volunteers has been highlighted even more – including those helping support vulnerable people in the community and helping in the vaccine roll out, as well as many others selflessly giving up their time.
While we have had a different year, which has unfortunately curtailed many of the activities of our volunteers, it is still important that we take time to thank each and every volunteer for their selfless efforts in supporting the activities of the Football Club, SBitC and our partner organisations.
Our brilliant matchday Family Zone is run and managed by a dedicated team of volunteers with support from the Club and led by lifelong fan Pat Raybould. The team give up time on matchdays to set up and run a range of entertainment and activities for young supporters and their families. This also extends to being a vital part of our JSB Party, which normally takes place every Christmas.
We would like to thank Pat and every single one of the Family Zone volunteers for their time and efforts. We know that they are all looking forward to being able to see our young supporters again back in at matches, and have missed the Family Zone and the camaraderie that exists among the volunteers. We have missed them too and can’t wait to see our Family Zone team again!
Sky Blues in the Community have a number of volunteers who help run their activities alongside their coaches and staff in a range of projects, including sport, health, inclusion and education. Whether it’s delivering sessions, making tea and coffee after a session or providing support to participants, volunteers play a key part in the activities, which are thankfully now getting back underway.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, SBitC staff and volunteers have been volunteering to help support the elderly and vulnerable in our community – whether it is delivering food packahges alongside Moat House Community Trust, having a chat over Zoom or being a friendly face to talk to. We thank all of the SBitC volunteers.
Whether it is the Family Zone volunteers, Sky Blues in the Community volunteers, the committee from the Former Players Association, or those involved at the CCFC Academy or the many other volunteers throughout the Sky Blues set-up, and those fans who run Supporters Clubs – we thank all of the volunteers for their selfless contributions to Coventry City Football Club and our community - we look forward to seeing you again soon!
