NEWS: Sky Blues statement following Government COVID-19 announcement

5 July 2021

Coventry City has welcomed the announcement this evening by the Government that fans will be able to attend games at full capacity from 19th July.

The Club will now begin planning for 100% capacity at the Coventry Building Society Arena, beginning from the pre-season friendly fixture against Wolves – which will be the Sky Blues’ first game back in Coventry since 2019.

Ticket information and match arrangements for this game and the first home league game against Nottingham Forest will be confirmed shortly, followed by Season Tickets and other matches.

The Club knows that while many welcome the news, there will continue to be anxiety for fans as life and sporting events begin to return to normal. Therefore fans who wish to still wear a mask at games will be encouraged to do so, and we encourage all fans to respect the choice of other supporters in this regard. There will continue to be increased hygiene measures, and fans will be encouraged to wash their hands.

Chief Executive Dave Boddy said:

“We welcome the news that sporting events will be able to return to full capacity following today’s announcement by the Government.

“Sky Blues fans will be excited to watch their team in action again and we can’t wait to welcome them back to the Coventry Building Society Arena.

“Until this announcement, us and other Clubs were in a situation where we did not know what would be happening. Now we do, we will be undertaking the work required to get ready for 100% capacity and the ticketing arrangements needed.

“Please bear with us as we make these plans and check our website and social media for information in the coming days and weeks.”
