Coventry City can provide details regarding the Family Zone for the 2021/22 season.
Unfortunately, the Family Zone will not return immediately.
We know that the Family Zone and its activities are a much-loved part of our matchdays and fans will be disappointed at the news.
However, as the world slowly begins to return to some normality, the Family Zone will instead return later in the season to ensure that it is able to come back in a normal and safe way for everyone involved.
Many of the activities of the Family Zone involve close contact with other fans and volunteers and sharing equipment, which is difficult due to COVID.
While we know that Government COVID-19 restrictions are no longer in place, it is important that fans and volunteers’ health and safety is put first, especially considering the range of ages of those fans and volunteers.
The Family Zone will continue to have a presence online and on social media, with prizes, competitions and other ways to keep young fans engaged in the interim period.
We hope to bring the Family Zone back to the Coventry Building Society Arena as soon as we are able to do so safely.
Pat Raybould, from the Family Zone volunteers, said:
“We feel that unfortunately the best decision at this time is to bring the Family Zone back later in the season.
“The safety of our young fans, their families and our volunteers is very important to us, as well as providing the experience and activities that fans expect from us and enjoy.
“We’re working with the Club and will hopefully be able to bring the Family Zone back sooner rather than later.”
Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy said:
“Obviously it is disappointing that we can’t bring the Family Zone activities back just yet, but having looked at the activities and how the implications of COVID, both us and the volunteers agreed that the right decision was to delay the return.
“We’ll continue to work closely with our volunteers to make sure the Family Zone will return in the best and safest possible way to the Coventry Building Society Arena, and will let supporters know when this is.
“All of the decisions we are currently making regarding COVID are we hope and believe in the best interests of the health and safety of supporters, players, staff and volunteers.”
