FIRST WORDS: Simon Moore

Here's what the 'keeper had to say after signing for City...

The Sky Blues latest summer signing Simon Moore is raring to go after the goalkeeper agreed a three-year-deal.

After departing fellow Championship side Sheffield United following the expiry of his contract, Moore made the move to City, signing until June 2024.

The 31-year-old joins with a bagful of experience having played in the Championship before with the Blades and Cardiff City and he is looking forward to playing again with the Sky Blues.

“I’m delighted to get it done.” Moore said.

“When I heard that Coventry were interested it was the only place I wanted to be. I had quite a few offers over the summer but to get the opportunity to play in the Championship is something I relish and it’s a club certainly heading in the right direction.

“I have a lot of experience of playing for teams in the Championship, personally I haven’t played a lot of football in the last couple of years but with that in mind I am really hungry to get going again and I feel great right now and really excited to get started."

Moore will join a goalkeeper’s union with some very familiar faces to the ‘keeper, as he has worked with both Aled Williams and Ben Wilson before.

Both were with Simon whilst he was at Cardiff City and he can’t wait to get working with them again, as well as young duo Tom Billson and Cian Tyler.

“Aled was at Cardiff when I was there, and Ben Wilson was there as well and he’s a great lad and he’s done really well at the back end of last season and I’m really looking forward to working with him again.

“It’s good to have that competition, everywhere I’ve been has been competitive and from my first day today I’ve loved it and it’s great being a part of the goalkeeping department here.

“I’ve met the two young goalkeepers Tom Billson and Cian Tyler and I’m looking forward to helping the boys and to taking the club in the right direction.

“Helping the younger lads is something I’ve relished as I’ve got a little bit older throughout my career, I’m one of those people that wants to help everyone and do the best for the team, and I feel I can benefit the whole department coming here.”

After working with England duo Dean Henderson and Aaron Ramsdale at Sheffield United over the last two years, Moore is now relishing getting back out on the pitch with the Sky Blues.

“I’ve got a real hunger and desire to play football after missing out last couple of years with not playing much, I’ve learnt a lot from that experience, but it’s given me that drive and hunger again to play week in week out because I know if I get a run of games I’ve got a lot to offer the club.”
