TRANSFER: Matty James joins Coventry City on loan!

6 January 2021

We are delighted to confirm that midfielder Matty James has joined Coventry City on loan!

The Leicester City midfielder has joined the Sky Blues on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old links up with his new team-mates today at Ryton and is eligible for Saturday's Emirates FA Cup tie at Norwich.

James has been on loan at fellow Championship side Barnsley since October, making 15 appearances.

After starting his career at Manchester United, he signed for Leicester City in 2012 and has made 116 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 5 goals, among nearly 200 career games in total.

Matty was a key part of the Leicester City side that won the Championship title in 2014 and has made nearly 50 appearances in the top-flight for the side.

Manager Mark Robins said:

“We’re very pleased to welcome Matty to the Club on loan until the end of the season.

“Matty is a player with great ability and brings to the squad leadership and experience in an important position.

“He has impressed previously for Leicester City at this level and also in the Premier League, as well as in his loan spell at Barnsley earlier this season, and we look forward to working with him.”
