TEAM NEWS: James and Gyokeres Start

The duo both come in for their first start against the Royals...

19 January 2021

Matty James and Viktor Gyokeres both make their first starts for the Sky Blues against Reading at the Madejski Stadium this evening.

Gyokeres, who joined City on loan from Brighton last week, is one of four changes to the side that faced Norwich in the FA Cup, replacing Max Biamou up front.

Having joined earlier this month, James comes in for his first City start in place of Ben Sheaf, having made his debut as second-half substitute at Carrow Road.

Elsewhere, Fankaty Dabo and Sam McCallum have been restored to the sarting lieup, after both Julien Dacosta and Ryan Giles featured in the FA Cup.

Ben Wilson remains in goal, shielded by the familiar back three of Leo Ostigard, Kyle McFadzean and Dom Hyam, flanked by Dabo and McCallum.

James partners both Gus Hamer and Jordan Shipley as part of a midfield three, with Callum O’Hare and Gyokeres occupying more advanced positions.

Sky Blues Xl: Ben Wilson (GK), Fankaty Dabo, Leo Ostigard, Kyle McFadzean (C), Dom Hyam, Sam McCallum, Matty James, Jordan Shipley, Gustavo Hamer, Callum O'Hare, Viktor Gyokeres.

Subs: Lee Camp (GK), Jordon Thompson, Julien Dacosta, Jamie Allen, Ben Sheaf, Gervane Kastaneer, Will Bapaga, Amadou Bakayoko, Max Biamou.
