NEWS: Championship Club Membership shirt update

27 January 2021

Coventry City are pleased to confirm that production of the Championship Club Membership shirt has been completed.

The 12-week production time required for the shirts began in October, with the exclusive and unique shirt including the names of all Championship Club Members, and the process being completed on schedule earlier this week.

We had previously advised that fans would receive their exclusive shirts around the end of January, however unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control this will now be in the week commencing 8th February. This is due to the lack of available flights to transport the shirts from the factory in Vietnam to the UK, as a result of the current global situation around the pandemic and reduced flights.

Shirts will be transported to the UK on the earliest available flight, which is arriving in the UK on 5th February.

It’s anticipated that they will arriving at our UK warehouse on 8th February, subject to customs, and they will then be dispatched to fans within days.

A distinctive image of the Coventry skyline adorns the front of the shirt, with the design on the front intended to be a celebration of the colour Sky Blue - there are varying levels of Sky Blue represented on this to represent the different shades that have been used on Home kits during Coventry City's existence.

Each of the Blue lines represents a soundwave to refer back to the fans that the jersey is celebrating and then the soundwaves make up a distorted representation of the Skyline to tie together the fans/City and the Club into one movement.

Dave Boddy, Chief Executive at Coventry City, said:

“A lot of hard work has gone into the production of this exclusive and highly sought-after shirt - from the design of the shirt to then checking each of the 3,500 individual names and finally the actual manufacture of these extremely personalised shirts at our factory.

“It’s great news that the production has been completed as anticipated, but unfortunately there is a slight delay in when fans can expect the shirts delivered.

“We were informed of the issue with flight availability and the effect this would have earlier today and wanted to let fans know as soon as possible.

“It is an effect of the current global situation with the pandemic and the reduction of flights and outside of our control. Thankfully, the delay is quite short so fans can look forward to receiving their shirts very soon.”
