COMMUNITY: Sky Blues in the Community Football Education programme!

13 January 2021

Sky Blues in the Community are offering young people the chance to study full-time towards a career in sport whilst representing Coventry City Football Club.

The Football Education Programme provides a unique opportunity for 16-19 year olds to represent the Sky Blues against other EFL Football Club Education Programmes in the EFL Community and Education Football Alliance.

The programme will see students play and train with Sky Blues Coaches alongside studying in full-time education.

Students will participate in weekly training sessions which includes football coaching, strength and conditioning training, game analysis, fitness testing and weekly fixtures – representing Coventry City FC.

Sky Blues in the Community also offer students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience too.

Chloe Groves, Football Development Manager at Sky Blues in the Community, said: “The Football Education Programme is a great opportunity for young people to continue to study whilst being part of a football academy. We have excellent quality coaching within the academy, which complements the educational delivery within the programme.

"Supporting young people in education is important to us and it is our goal to inspire learning and personal development to raise aspirations, attainment and achievement.

"Alongside the unique opportunity to represent Coventry City Football Club, with our home ground being at Coventry Sphinx FC this new partnership adds further value to our programme by providing an excellent player pathway to students”.
