INTERVIEW: Kyle McFadzean Brentford Preview

City take on the Bees this weekend...

19 February 2021

Kyle McFadzean is hoping for a response as the Sky Blues prepare to take on Brentford on Saturday at St Andrews.

McFadzean acknowledged that the Championship can be difficult but it has reached a vital point in the season where getting results must take priority.

He said: “It is quite difficult and in this this league you can go five games without a win but we have got to make sure in this little run of games we don’t do that and we know it is going to be a tough game tomorrow.

“We have got to find a way to win as it is not about playing well now, it is about getting results, tomorrow we have got to go out there and really get in their faces and make it hard for them.

“We need to cut out the mistakes and myself, it was a stupid mistake the other night but if we can take that out the game, we will be in it and the last two games we have let ourselves down defensively.”

He revealed that they aim to win every game possible however it is important that they start well and are aiming to get off to a bright start against Brentford.

He said: “We can’t afford to give away two sloppy goals and expect to come back especially against a top team like Norwich. We gave them too much respect and were a bit all over the place.

“It is about digging for results and fighting for every point we can get and it has come to that stage of the season now if we can get through the next (set of) games and we are picking up a few wins and a draw, but we want to win every game.

“We have got to give ourselves a chance first and foremost and not concede goals like the other night.

“Second half we came out and you could tell we were on the front foot and should start like that and hopefully we can do that tomorrow. “

He is currently happy to be back playing after missing a few games through self-isolation and also emphasised how the team must maintain togetherness until the end of the season.

He said: “It is good to be back and being at home and not being able to go out for ten days takes a little bit out of you so it was nice to get back but it would have been better with a result and I need to get a couple more games under my belt.

“At the minute no one is guaranteed to be picked so we have to be working hard and everyone has got to be fighting for their place and that’s how it has got to be until the end of the season, we all need to be together and we will be.”
