Ahead of City’s clash with Valerien Ismael’s West Bromwich Albion at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the Sky Bet Championship this Saturday, we take a trip down memory lane and remember a famous victory against our opponents…
This week’s edition takes us back to the Sky Blues’ last home league win over the Baggies, back in December 2003 when Albion were top of the First Division table.
The visitors missed two good chances early on to score through Rob Hulse, with the striker dragging a shot wide before heading over, however the home side grew into the game and Baggies’ ‘keeper Russell Hoult was called upon to prevent City taking the lead.
The home side thought they had taken the lead on the hour mark however the flag was up, with Hoult finally beaten.
Wales international Jason Koumas couldn’t find the target from two free kicks and the visitors would be left to rue their missed chances with a minute remaining…
City surged forward with the forward slipping the ball through for the man off the bench to fire into the far corner to earn the three points for Coventry!
However, what we want to know is how well do you remember the Sky Blues side from that day, can you name the starting eleven and the substitutes?
