TRANSFER: Coventry City sign Todd Kane!

31 August 2021

Coventry City are delighted to announce the signing of defender Todd Kane.

The 27-year-old has joined on a permanent transfer from Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract with the Sky Blues until July 2023.

Kane, who can play at right-back or left-back, joined QPR in 2019 and he went on to play 65 games for the Club, scoring 3 goals.

5ft 11’ Todd came through the Academy ranks at Premier League giants Chelsea, and also earned 8 England Under-19 caps.

While at the Blues Kane enjoyed a number of loan spells away from Stamford Bridge, most notably in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 campaigns where he played 42 times and with Hull City when he appeared 41 times in 2018/19.

Other destinations included Preston North End, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, Dutch sides NEC Nijmegen and Groningen, plus Oxford United.

Manager Mark Robins said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Todd to Coventry City.

“He is a player with quality and versatility, and also brings with him experience at this level.

“He adds to our options and is a good player to have within the squad, and we look forward to working with him.”

Robins added:

“I had spoken previously about getting one more deal over the line this transfer window, and we’re very pleased to bring Todd in to conclude our additions to the squad.

“Our squad has continued to develop this transfer window and we are in a stronger position to be more competitive in this league.

“There are some players on the fringes of the squad who we may be looking to move out if the deal is right for them and for the Club, but we are happy with the business that we have completed.”
