The EFL have confirmed Benjamin Speedie will be the man in the middle for the City’s Carabao Cup First Round tie against Jon Brady’s Northampton Town.
Mark Robins’ side take on the Cobblers at the Coventry Building Society Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm on Wednesday, August 11th.
It will be the first time that Speedie has taken charge of a game involving the Sky Blues as he officiates his second match of the season after taking charge of Portsmouth’s 0-1 victory at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
This year will be Ben’s second season as a referee in the Football League and he awarded 78 yellow cards and 5 red cards in the 29 games he officiated last season across the FA Cup, Sky Bet League One, Sky Bet League Two and EFL Trophy.
Speedie will be assisted by Darren Wilding and Ian Smedley whilst Richard Morris will act as the fourth official.
