OFFICIALS: Referee Watch Versus Barnsley

John Busby will be the man in the middle…

12 August 2021

John Busby has been confirmed as the man in the middle for the Sky Blues’ first away match of the season at Barnsley on Saturday.

Mark Robins’ side take on Barnsley at Oakwell, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00pm.

Busby officiated his first match of the campaign on Tuesday night overseeing Doncaster’s penalty shootout victory at Walsall in the Carabao Cup after an initial 0-0.

It will be the first time that Busby has taken charge of a game involving the Sky Blues since our 0-0 at MK Dons in October 2019.

This year will mark John’s 6th season as a referee in the Football League and over that time he has officiated 7 Sky Blues fixtures.

With Busby in the middle, City have a record of:

Wins – 3

Draws – 1

Defeats – 3

Last season Busby awarded 90 yellow cards and 6 red cards in the 34 games he officiated across the FA Cup, Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One, Sky Bet League Two, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy.

Busby will be assisted by Matthew Jones and Akil Howson whilst Andrew Kitchen will act as the fourth official.
