Ahead of City’s first away match of the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship season at Barnsley, we take a trip down memory lane and remember a famous victory against our opponents…
On the opening day of the 2007/08 season the Sky Blues travelled up to South Yorkshire to face the Tykes at Oakwell hoping to start the season on the right foot.
And on the right foot they would, with Iain Dowie’s men opening the scoring with the season just six minutes old.
However Barnsley would equalise just three minutes later through captain Brian Howard and the sides would go in level at the break.
But City went ahead after the restart even earlier than they did in the first, with the goal coming in the 50th minute.
The star of the show for City wouldn’t get his name on the score sheet but after assisting the second, Jay Tabb would set up both the third and fourth goals to earn a 1-4 victory that saw the Sky Blues end the day top of the league.
However, what we want to know is how well do you remember the Sky Blues side from that day? Can you name the starting eleven and the substitutes?
You have 10 minutes to name the full matchday squad, good luck!
