Mark Robins spoke of his excitement after the Sky Blues completed the signing of Jake Clarke-Salter.
The centre-back joins City for 2021/22 Championship campaign, after joining on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The defender is someone Robins revealed he has been tracking all summer and was delighted to finally welcome him to the Sky Blues earlier today.
“I’m really pleased to get him in the building we’ve had to be patient but now he’s finally here.” Robins said.
“He’s a player that we have been tracking all summer, so we thank Chelsea and his agents, because they have stood firm and turned offers down from other clubs because they think here is a good place for him.
“He is well-known by Adi, Fankaty Dabo and Ian Maatsen and the majority of our players will know of him from coming up against Birmingham City the last two seasons.
“He’s not just any left-footer, he has brilliant qualities as you would expect after being at Chelsea at such a young age. He’s technically very good and he’s desperate to do well. He will be a leader in the dressing room there’s no doubt about it and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
The 23-year-old will join City raring to go and in top condition, after enjoying a full pre-season under his belt with the European champions.
“He’s been training with Chelsea and that in itself is a brilliant pre-season, the levels that they play and train at. He’s played in pre-season games and he went on tour with them in Ireland, so he’s ready to go.”
The defender met his team mates earlier today and trained with the Sky Blues for the first time ahead of the clash against Barnsley.
Robins was pleased with what he has seen from the centre-back and reiterated his excitement about working with Jake.
“I’m really excited about it and I think it’s a really good addition to the team.”
