INTERVIEW: Mark Robins Provides Squad Update

Robins confirmed City will be without their centre-half duo...

10 April 2021

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins confirmed that City will be without centre-half duo, Dominic Hyam and Michael Rose for today’s clash with Bournemouth.

City take on the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium, as they look to build on Monday’s victory over Bristol City at St Andrew’s.

Speaking ahead of the game, Robins told the media that the centre-back pairing, who both missed the game against Bristol City, will miss out again this weekend.

“No, they aren’t available yet, Rose and Hyam will be out.

“Dom is ill, he’s got an illness that’s just preventing him from joining in with the other group. It’s not COVID related, it’s just an illness, a bug.

“I think he may start training tomorrow if he’s 24 hours clear of his symptoms then he’ll be able to do something, but he’s been out for a week, so, he now would’ve lost energy, weight and needs to regain all that. Hopefully he’ll be able to train on Monday and we’ll start to build him up.

“It certainly is a blow, but that’s where we are at the moment, but you want everybody fit and I’ve said that before, we need everybody fit.

“The players coming in to fill in have done really well, Pasky who came in the other day done brilliantly well and it’s down to that type of player to come in and maintain those levels of concentration.”

There was also an update on winger Jodi Jones, who is continuing his recovery from a third ACL injury in the same number of years.

Jodi has been on the comeback trail and after taking to the grass a few weeks ago, he has continued his journey at St George’s Park.

“Jodi still has got a way to go. He’s at St George’s Park next week, so that’ll be the next sort of milestone when he comes back from there and we get the report and we can sort of take it from there, but he’s actually doing really well.”
