INTERVIEW: Mark Robins Huddersfield Town Preview

City travel to the John Smith's Stadium tomorrow afternoon...

Mark Robins believes it’s 'important' the Sky Blues finish the season strongly ahead of their trip to Huddersfield Town tomorrow afternoon.

City were beaten by Preston North End last time out but head to West Yorkshire with their Championship status secured, looking to add to their points total in the remaining two games of the season.

The manager is aware of the quality and experience the Terriers have in their squad despite their position in the league table.

Robins said: “They’re expansive, they try and get after you, they put pressure on, they’ve got pace in forward areas, they’ve got good quality throughout the team and a lot of experience as well.

“They’re a decent side and on their day, when that clicks for them, they’re going to be a good side.

“It’s really important that we finish off the season well in terms of performances, we can go there with confidence, it’s a brilliant place to go and play, it’s a good pitch and great surface.

“They’ve still got some players from when they were in the Premier League and, whilst they’ve had some difficult moments this season and they’re lower than where they would have expected to be, they’ve got some good players in their team who are capable, we have to be tuned in.”

Robins also believes his side will have benefitted from having a rest in midweek and hopes achieving safety will allow the Sky Blues to play with more freedom at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“We’ve had a little bit of a breather, I’ve been able to give people a few days off and a bit of a rest leading into this one, we can look forward to the two games and we want to win.

“Everybody will have benefited from a few days off and it looks that way, now they’ve got to tune in and make sure that we perform to the highest level we possibly can tomorrow.

“The fact we’ve achieved our objective with a couple of games to spare means we have to make sure that as professionals we do what we need to do, I want to get good performances, results are always important.

“We want to continue to try and build the points total, we’ve just got to go there and play with the freedom that allows us to do and hopefully that will give us a really good platform for a good performance tomorrow.

“This certainly isn’t an easy game, they’ve got a definite way of playing and a clear philosophy and when they get it right they’re a really good team, it’s just been a bit up and down this season, it’s a tough game.”
