Leo Ostigard was on the scoresheet as the Sky Blues recorded a 1-0 victory at Rotherham on Thursday night.
The Sky Blues started on the front foot and it was Ostigard’s headed effort in the second half after a Matty James cross which secured the points.
Speaking after the final whistle, Ostigard commented on how significant the victory was for him and his teammates.
He said: “Everyone at the club knew that this was an important game for us, and you can feel we are a little bit nervous before the game, it means a lot to the fans and for us as a club.
“When I heard the whistle, I ran to the Gaffer and gave him a hug because it means a lot for me, for him and everyone.
“I like to play in these games because they are bigger games, it was nice to win, to have a clean sheet away where we have struggled away this season and to score means a lot for me.”
He spoke about how he was pleased to score the decisive goal and that he had spoke to James before the match about how he wanted to be found in the area.
He said: “When you have missed a lot (of chances) in the season, it is nice to see them going in the goal and I know I am a threat every set piece we get.
“I had a good talk with Matty James before the game and I said to him where I want the ball and he is a quality player so then he found me.
“I know the keeper (Viktor Johansson), he had a good game and at half time, we talked about just keep going and keep clam and the goal will come, as they will be more and more tired and then the goal came.”
He then expressed that City had to stay resolute to deal with the Millers playing style and will be mindful that they are still not safe.
He said: “It is a lot of work because there are a lot of long balls and you have to stay compact as a team and be ready for a flick, it is a hard game to play, we were good and a clean sheet for us is very important.
“The job is not done, and we have been good at home and we know we will pick up points there, we have a good feeling going into the next away game so that is very important for the team to have that feeling.
“When you win, we have to pick up points and pick up more points and we want to win, we have five games now and you have to be ready for every game.”
