Manager – Daniel Farke:

After a playing career spent mostly in the lower leagues of Germany, it’s as a manager where Daniel Farke has made a name for himself.

Following his retirement from football in 2008 with SV Lippstadt, he would become manager of the German side where he ended his playing career in 2009.

Farke spent 6 years at with Lippstadt, winning two promotions during his time, before resigning and eventually taking charge of Borussia Dortmund’s reserve side.

Following two years with the Black and Yellows, he would move to England and take charge of then Championship side, Norwich City.

After securing a mid-table finish in his first season in charge, the next year Farke would win promotion to the Premier League with the Canaries, as Champions.

However, Farke was unable to keep Norwich in the Premier League, as they were relegated back to the Championship.

 

Familiar Face – Sam McCallum:

The Sky Blues will come head-to-head with former defender Sam McCallum this season, as he lines-up for Norwich City following his permanent move.

Sam initially joined Norwich in January of 2020, before returning to City on-loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.

The defender had spent two years with the Sky Blues, the club he would make his Football League debut for, as well as scoring his first competitive goals.

The defender played a key role in the club’s promotion back into the Championship last season, as he played 35 games, scoring three goals along the way.

There have been some familiar faces to have represented the two sides as well as Sam McCallum such as Darren Huckerby, Dion Dublin, Craig Bellamy, David Phillips, James Maddison, Sammy Clingan and many more.

The Sky Blues were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the second round, after a disappointing defeat against Championship side Norwich at Carrow Road.

Fact:

Formed in 1902, Norwich City were founded in a café in the city and entered the amateur game, playing their first match against Harwich & Parkeston at their first ground Newmarket Road on September 2nd 1902.
