City slip to defeat against the Robins...

2 November 2020

The Sky Blues fell to defeat against Bristol City earlier today at the Alan Higgs Centre.

It was the visitors who had the best opportunity of the first half and it was Josh Owens who saw the ball fall to him on the edge of the area and he tried his luck with a curling effort which went just over the bar.

However, it was City who went closest to scoring on the half hour mark, as David Bremang was played through on goal, but he watched on as his shot came back off the post.

The striker continued to be involved and this time, just minutes later, he was on the end of a Blaine Rowe cross, but he couldn’t steer his header on target.

Another ball through the middle again split open the Bristol defence and this time it was Jack Burroughs who ran through on goal, but he dragged his shot wide of the post.

City would be left to rue their missed opportunities when the visitors took the lead with a great curling strike from the edge of the area by Sam Pearson which flew into the top corner.

The Sky Blues almost came back with an immediate response when a corner came to Bremang at the back post, but his diving header was saved by Wiles-Richards.

HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 0-1 Bristol City

After the break, the Sky Blues looked to get back into the game and they had a chance through Jordan Young after the midfielder made a darting run from his own half, but his shot sailed over the bar.

The midfielder created space outside of the area once more but again he was unable to keep the ball down and his shot went over.

Despite dominating possession in the second half, City were unable to create any clear cut chances to get back on level terms.

The visitors also had their chances limited but their first came in the 85th minute, when a header from Pearson was comfortable for Billson who held onto the ball.

In the last minute of the game, Bremang headed the ball down for Will Bapaga who struck the ball first time and it looked destined for the back of the net, but the defender put his body on the line to make the block.
