INTERVIEW: Mark Robins Injury Update

Robins talks Godden, Walker, Hyam and Dabo...

7 November 2020

Speaking yesterday morning during his pre-match press conference, Mark Robins provided a further update on the players that missed out on the trip to Nottingham Forest.

Jordan Shipley missed out due to coming into contact with someone who had come into contact with someone that contract Covid-19, so the midfielder will continue to self-isolate.

However, there was positive news on Dom Hyam, who has recovered and should be available for selection this afternoon, although it isn’t the same good news for Fankaty Dabo.

“Fanky has had a procedure done yesterday morning, so he will be unavailable again this afternoon against Watford.

“Dominic finished his return to training protocol on Thursday, after suffering with concussion, so he will be available.”

During the game against Forest, City striker Matty Godden was forced off with an injury, which as of post-match on Wednesday hadn’t been diagnosed.

However, Robins confirmed that Matty is doubtful today and will need time to recover over the international break.

“Matty has a got a torn tendon in the bottom of his foot so I think he will be a doubt for tomorrow that’s for sure.

“Hopefully we can get him back after the international break and able to train pretty quickly.

“All the players will need a bit of down time during the break, but they will be here at Ryton training as well.”

Also, during the game, there were appeals for a foul when Tyler Walker, who came on for Matty, was taken out by the Forest ‘keeper, Samba midway through the second half.

Nothing was given on the night for the coming together, however it seems Tyler came out of the collision with a gash to his leg, which makes him also doubtful this afternoon.

“When we looked at the game the other night and Tyler Walker came on and he got clattered by the goalkeeper and everyone was screaming it wasn’t a foul, he has a big gash in his leg.

“There certainly was a foul there and due to the gash, Tyler is doubtful for today as well.”
