ON THIS DAY: Sky Blues win League Two Play-Off Final!

28 May 2020

On This Day in 2018, Coventry City won the League Two Play-Off Final!

The Sky Blues were 3-1 victors over Exeter City to seal an immediate return to League One, with the goals coming from Jordan Willis, Jordan Shipley and Jack Grimmer.

Willis gave the Sky Blues the lead just after the break with a stunning right-footed curler from 25-yards out.

Minutes later Shipley doubled City's lead thanks when his shot took a deflection and looped over the Exeter keeper, before Grimmer cut inside from the right and picked-out the top left corner to seal the win.

Exeter scored a late consolation, but the Sky Blues' promotion was confirmed minutes later to spark jubilant scenes on the pitch and in the stands, as nearly 40,000 Sky Blues fans celebrated promotion at Wembley - the Club's first promotion for 51 years.
