MY CCFC XI: Rob Harrison selects his best Coventry City team!

4 May 2020

Coventry City fan Rob Harrison is the next supporter to choose his best XI!

Over lockdown, this has proved a popular feature as Sky Blues fans pick their best side based on players that they have seen play during their time supporting the Club.

Rob Harrison is 28 and lives in the Stoke area of Coventry - not too far from our old ground Highfield Road. Rob has been supporting Coventry City for 20 years - and now talks us through his best XI...

Manager: Mark Robins

Formation: 4-3-3

Goalkeeper - Kieren Westwood

Was a tough choice between Westwood and Hedman, I feel as proven Westwood is one of the best shotstoppers outside the Premier League and feel proud we were part of his development.

Right back: Fankaty Dabo

The engine on this guy is crazy and I think he has been player of the season this year. I was at Oxford away when he scored 2 OG's and was worried about him being accident prone. He has gone on to prove he is irreplaceable and engine of the side for the formation we now play with.

Centre back: Mo Konjic

He was such a monster at the back, stuck his head in where it hurts and still came off smiling. Was a proper leader at the back and loves Coventry. Was one of my favourite players as a kid.

Centre back: Scott Dann

Another leader at the back who knows how to defend, has gone on to be a captain in the Premier League and doesnt look out of place.

Left back: Danny Fox

He knew how to take a set piece and deliver good balls in the box whilst scoring vital goals for a left back. Went on to play for Celtic in the Champions League, which was well deserved.

Defensive midfield: Dennis Wise

Came on a short term contract to us but wasnt expecting him to make such an impact, I'll never forget his overhead kick goal for us and that was our highest finish in the Championship in my memory at 8th place under Micky Adams. I think it was a lot down to him for finishing higher than expected.

Defensive midfield: Gary McAllister

Bit of a club legend in my eyes for the time I've been supporting City. His leadership and range of passing was fantastic and all the young lads learned a lot from him.

Attacking midfield: Mustapha Hadji

Voted Africas 50th all time greatest player which says a lot, the fans loved him when he was here, very creative.

Right wing: Robbie Keane

Absolute class act, knew where the goal was lots of pace and has gone on to be a fantastic well loved player anywhere he has gone.

Centre forward: Dion Dublin

Not the most popular City player due to moving to Villa, however can't be ignored for being joint top goal scorer in the Premier League for us one year, very much a solid goal scorer.

Left wing: Darren Huckerby

His goal against Man United with that run he did will always be remembered, lots of skill and pace. Last time I saw him was at the Legends match when we moved away to Northampton, that game was played at the Ricoh and he was still class then.

Subs bench for Honorable mentions: Callum Wilson / James Maddison / Michael Mifsud / Lee Carsley / Michael Doyle / Gary McSheffrey / John Fleck
