NEWS: Coventry City update regarding Coronavirus, Ryton and Club offices

16 March 2020

Coventry City’s commercial, marketing & communication and football operations offices at Ryton and the Ticket Office at Butts Park Arena will be closed until further notice.

The Club have taken the decision with the health of players, staff and supporters as a priority.

Staff affected will be working remotely from home during business hours – if you need to contact a member of staff at the Club, we recommend doing so via email at this time.

A skeleton staff remains at Ryton outside of the main building to ensure operationally the Club continues to function, including grounds staff and finance teams.

The situation will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Dave Boddy, Coventry City Chief Executive, is self-isolating having been on holiday in Spain last week but has not shown any symptoms.

Boddy said: “It was determined by the senior management at the Club on Friday that the best thing to do following the EFL announcement was to close Club Offices in the main building at Ryton and the Ticket Office until further notice.

“It’s important to make clear that we have not had anybody at the football club test positive for Coronavirus at this moment in time. I am self-isolating, but have shown no symptoms and would recommend that any supporters in a similar position do the same, and that fans follow the advice from the Government and health authorities at this time.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this closure of offices might cause. Our staff will endeavour to run the business remotely as best we can during the period of shutdown, including our website and social media channels.

“The players will continue to train and keep fit according to their schedule at Ryton, with limitations on the time they spend together off the training pitch and precautions around the building.

“We all look forward to the season getting back underway and us continuing the season that we are all enjoying, but our thoughts are with all of those who are affected by this outbreak.

“We would like thanks fans for bearing with us at this difficult time and the challenges that it poses for us. We will continue to keep supporters updated.”

An update regarding tickets for the affected games will be issued in due course.

An update regarding the Coventry City Academy was issued on Friday.

An update on the activities of Sky Blues in the Community was issued on Friday.
