CLASSIC HIGHLIGHTS: The FA Cup Winners return!

25 March 2020

We're looking to keep you entertained and feeling positive during the current football suspension and uncertain times, and bringing you lots of classic content on social media and the official Youtube channel!

Today, we've delved into the archives to bring you footage from the day after the Sky Blues lifted the FA Cup and the victory parade through the streets of Coventry!

After winning the cup at Wembley with a 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on 16th May 1987, the 17th May saw thousands upon thousands of Sky Blues fans and the people of Coventry pack the streets to welcome back their heroes.

Entering Coventry at Junction 2 of the M6, down Ansty Road and then Walsgrave Road and into the City Centre, there were jubilant scenes all along the way. The parade reached a packed Broadgate before being welcomed by City dignitaries at the Council House and then showing off the trophy from a balcony opposite.

The scenes are truly incredible to watch for anyone associated with the Sky Blues or the City of Coventry, and will bring back great memories for those who were there!
