After agreeing a new deal with his hometown club, Jordan Shipley revealed his delight at again, extending his stay with Coventry City.

Shipley has agreed fresh terms on a new deal, following another impressive season for the midfielder, who helped in firing the Sky Blues to the League One title.

The 22-year-old told of the great ‘honour’ he felt at being offered a new deal with the newly promoted side.

He said: “I feel great, it’s a great achievement for me again and now I’m looking to kick on again next season.

“This club means a lot to me and everyone’s heard the story, I’ve been here since I was seven years old and I’ve come through the ranks and finally broke into the first team and now I’m established in that team and to be offered another deal, it’s a great honour for me.

“Growing up here, I know what it means to the fans to get back into the Championship and now we’re here hopefully we can kick on and establish ourselves and then try and push on to bigger and better things.”

Having been at the club for 15 years, Jordan is one of many to have come through the Sky Blues academy and feature in the first team.

He made his debut for the club against Walsall back in April 2017 and has since gone on to make over 100 appearances for City and now after securing two promotions under his belt, he gets the opportunity to test himself in the Championship.

“Things started off a little slow when I was a first year pro but towards the end I got given a chance in the first team and then in my second year I really kicked on and I haven’t looked back since and now we’re in the Championship.

“It’s going to be testing at a higher standard and it’s going to be difficult, but I’m sure with the squad we’ve got and the depth we have, that it’s going to be a good season.”

Shipley and his teammates may well be without the Sky Blues supporters for the start of the season, but the midfielder had this message to his fans.

“It’s going to be a good season and we can’t wait to have you back in the crowd and cheering us all on.”
