TRANSFER: Coventry City sign Ryan Giles on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers

31 January 2020

Coventry City have signed Ryan Giles on loan from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season, subject to EFL clearance.

Giles is an England Under 20 international who can play in several positions on the left.

The 20-year-old was on loan at Shrewsbury Town earlier this season, where he made 25 appearances and scored one goal – that goal coming on his debut back in August.

He made his debut for Wolves in January 2019 against Shrewsbury Town, in a 2-2 FA Cup draw.

Manager Mark Robins said:

“I know I said we were not going to sign anybody earlier in our press conference, but the opportunity to sign Ryan came to us late this afternoon.

“He is a player who has been within our Recruitment process and who we’ve been aware of for the last two years, and we are delighted that he will now join us.

“He is a left sided player, who has great versatility and can play in a number of positions.

“He is a creative player with great technical ability and will add pace and dynamism to our attacking play.

“We look forward to working with Ryan between now and the end of the season.”

Ryan is not eligible for Saturday's SkyBet League One away game against Bristol Rovers, and is cup-tied for Tuesday's Emirates FA Cup tie against Birmingham City.
