NEWS: Sky Blues in the Community attend 'Sporting Memories – The Reunion' event

19 January 2020

On Thursday afternoon, Sky Blues in the Community celebrated #CoventrySmashesSport week by attending Sporting Memories - The Reunion.

It was a fantastic afternoon of looking back and celebrating Coventry's year of European City of Sport and Year of Wellbeing.

Sky Blues in the Community enjoyed an afternoon of listening to old sporting memories, stories, laughs and everything from the good old days of sport across Coventry, hosted by former GB middle and long distance runner David Moorcroft.

Sporting Memories – The Reunion, was held at Xcel Leisure Centre where many familiar sporting faces attended, including Dietmar Bruck, Ronnie Farmer and our Head of Community – David Busst.

The event was aimed at anyone over 50 that had a fantastic memory of sport, whether that be; competing, playing with the old work’s team, being an avid supporter or just enjoyed being a part of the atmosphere.

SBitC and those in attendance looked back through old footage and spoke about everything from old sporting grounds, Cricket, Rugby, Badminton, Tennis, Cycling, Speedway and of course Highfield Road and Coventry City FC.

As well as listening to stories and reminiscing with old sporting footage, we also had plenty of brilliant memorabilia to look back through, which included CCFC Match Day Programmes from the 80’s and holding the original Olympic Torch from 1984!
