UNDER 18S: Sky Blues 2-0 Hull City

City get back to winning ways...

17 December 2020

The Sky Blues put in a dominating performance at home to Hull City as they ran out 2-0 winners.

It was a lively game from the get-go with Coventry having numerous shots on target early on, testing Hull ‘keeper Harry Fisk.

Sam Rodber almost grabbed the Sky Blues’ first just 15 minutes in after he latched onto a clipped ball over the top from Malakai Reeve and drove inwards, however, his effort rattled the near post leaving the game level.

Only a few minutes later Rodber found himself in the exact same position, this time his shot was drilled low and just wide of the far post.

The Tigers had little reply and Coventry’s first half dominance was rewarded in the 37th minute when Aaron Evans-Harriott found himself on the edge of the box and his cute lay-off to Joe Nightingale allowed the left winger to fire it low into the bottom corner, giving the hosts a lead going into the break.

It was more of the same in the second half with Rodber again hit the post and this time the rebound was well cleared by the Hull backline.

Coventry showed their class and positive attitude in the second half of the game as they piled on the pressure for Hull and dealt with difficult conditions to maintain a foothold of the game.

As the game draw to a close Hull picked up, looking for an equaliser. However, another solid defensive performance from a back four of Matthew Harland, George Burroughs, Reeve and a returning Finn O’Brien proved the difference.

The game was all over 10 minutes to go when Harrison Nee rifled one into the top corner from a Reece Massey pass.

Coventry saw out their comfortable lead and took all three points in their penultimate game before the Christmas break.
