The Sky Blues secured back to back wins in pre-season after a last minute worldie by Jodi Jones at the Pirelli Stadium.
The Sky Blues had come from behind twice in the game, as goals from Jamie Allen and Amadou Bakayoko pegged back both of Kane Hemming’s strikes, but it was a worldie from Jodi Jones in the last minute that won the game.
It took just 90 seconds for Matty Godden to get a sight on goal as he was on the end of a Jamie Allen through ball, but his shot went wide of the post.
A bright start from City saw them continue to threaten the Burton goal and this time, in a similar position to Godden earlier, Jordan Shipley saw a shot goes inches wide.
However, despite the early dominance, it was the hosts who took the lead, as a ball fizzed across the box found the run of Kane Hemmings, who then found the back of the net.
City came close to equalising through Ryan Giles, when he hit a sweetly struck strike which was well saved by Sharman-Lowe in the Burton goal.
HALF-TIME: BURTON ALBION 1-0 SKY BLUES
Following the restart, the Sky Blues started the second half as they had done the first, and it was almost the perfect start when Gustavo Hamer’s spectacular effort from outside of the box whistled past the post.
However, City would have their leveller and it was another great move which resulted in Jamie Allen being released on goal and he made no mistake in finding the top corner.
Mark Robins side were on top in the opening stages and they almost turned the game on it’s head minutes after when a superb move ended with Shipley playing an excellent ball for Giles and his first time ball found Godden, but his shot went over.
Next to try his luck in the first ten minutes of the second period was Callum O’Hare, as he beat his man in the box and created space for a shot, which unfortunately went over the bar.
For all the Sky Blues control of the game, it would be the hosts who would score the third of the game when Kane Hemmings latched onto a loose ball to grab his second.
The Sky Blues made nine changes following Hemmings’ goal, with only Ben Wilson and Kyle McFadzean remaining on the pitch from the team that started.
And it was two of those subs who combined to get City back on level terms, when good work by Blaine Rowe helped to get the ball to Bakayoko and he slid the ball into an empty net to make it 2-2.
Then, with seconds left on the clock, Jodi Jones unleashed an unstoppable effort which flew into the top corner and gave Mark Robins side another 3-2 win.
