MY CCFC XI: Sky Blues fan Simon Smith picks his all-time 11

1 April 2020

Coventry City fan and Family Zone volunteer Simon Smith is next up in choosing his all-time Sky Blues XI!

Simon went to his first game in 1979, his Dad taking him to that first game.

Steve Hunt scored - and Simon was hooked, and Steve Hunt was his hero! He talks us through his selection...

Manager: Simon Smith

Sky Blues fan for: 41 years

Goalkeeper: Steve Ogrizovic

Possibly England's best un-capped goalkeeper & CCFC leading appearance maker. There could be no other choice.

Right Back: Brian Borrows

A good solid defender with some attacking flair.

Centre Back: Mo Konjic

Solid defender with a 'never say die' attitude.

Centre Back: Trevor Peake

Great footballing brain. Read the game well & was always up for the fight.

Left Back: Stuart Pearce

Didn't play that many games for us but his quality shone through.

Right Midfield: Kevin Gallacher

Great pace & eye for goal. Always got me up out of my seat!

Centre Midfield: Gary McAllister

Great passer with a great fighting spirit.

Centre Midfield: Aron Gunnarsson

Never stopped running, hard in the tackle & not forgetting his long throw

Left Midfield: Steve Hunt (1978-1984)

My favorite CCFC player of all time. This is the player that made me support the club. I used to love watching him play.

Forward: Cyrille Regis

Big, strong & powerful. Never stopped running.

Forward: Ian Wallace

What he lacked in height, he more than made up for in heart. A great small in a 'little & large' strike force.
