Sky Blues climbed into the automatic places...

15 April 2020

After two meetings between the two sides in January, City started February with their third match against Bristol Rovers in the space of just a few weeks.

Whereas the FA Cup saw a draw at the Memorial Stadium, on this occasion the Sky Blues came out on top. They had to do it the hard way, coming from behind to secure all three points in a 2-1 win - Jamie Allen and Liam Walsh on target in the first half.

A Fourth Round replay in the FA Cup was next up and City were seconds away from the Fifth Round on two seperate occasions against Birmingham.

Amadou Bakayoko scored after half-time and that looked enough to send City through, but Harlee Dean's cross found its way into the net in the 92nd minute to send the game to extra time.

Then, when Max Biamou scored in the 114th minute it looked to have sent City through, but then Jeremie Bela equalised again in stoppage time. Birmingham City won on penalties, ending the Sky Blues' FA Cup campaign.

Focus returned to League One, and Mark Robins' side went on a four game winning run following the cup exit.

A 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers, with goals coming from Amadou Bakayoko and Max Biamou, was followed by a 1-0 win over Portsmouth, thanks to Matty Godden's late goal.

Next, City faced back-to-back away trips, which saw back-to-back wins on the road, firstly against Southend with Biamou and O'Hare scoring and then against Rochdale with Michael Rose and Godden on target again.

Finally, in the last fixture of the month, the Sky Blues faced Rotherham United in a top two clash.

The Millers took the lead in the first half, but City fought back and Matty Godden's header just after half-time secured a point for the Sky Blues.
