City end the year in style...

3 April 2020

The Sky Blues picked up their form from the end of November as they entered the final month of 2019, December.

It was a case of Groundhog Day to start the month however, as Mark Robins side took on Ipswich Town three times in the space of just ten days.

The first result in the FA Cup ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks to Callum O'Hare's late goal which cancelled out Will Keane's opening goal. In the second game it was a similar story, but this time it was Max Biamou who cancelled out Keane's opener to earn City a point in League One action.

Sandwiched between those two fixtures, City exited the Leasing.com Trophy, suffering a 2-0 defeat to MK Dons, in a game where Jamie Allen and Jodi Jones both made returns to action.

In the final installment of the Ipswich trilogy for December, City progress in the FA Cup, with a 2-1 win away at Portman Road thanks to goals from Jordan Shipley and Biamou.

Next up, City fell to defeat for only the second time in League One to Shrewsbury Town, before bouncing back with a 1-0 win at home to Lincoln City, with Zain Westbrooke scoring the only goal of the game.

In final game of the month, Matty Godden marked his return to action in emphatic style, scoring a hat-trick against 2nd placed Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Sam McCallum had opened the scoring in the game with his first league goal of the season, before Godden smashed home a hat-trick to secure a 4-1 win.
