TRANSFER: Liam Walsh joins the Sky Blues on loan

2 September 2019

Coventry City have agreed to sign Bristol City midfielder Liam Walsh on loan.

The 21-year-old central midfielder has joined the Sky Blues on a season long loan, subject to EFL approval.

A product of the Everton Academy, Walsh enjoyed loan spells at Yeovil Town and Birmingham City away from his boyhood club.

In January 2018, Walsh moved to Bristol City for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Ashton Gate side, and has made 19 appearances for the club, scoring 1 goal.

He has also represented England at Under 16 and Under 18 levels.

Manager Mark Robins said:

“We’re pleased to add Liam to our squad. He is a very talented footballer, who loves getting on the ball and is comfortable with both feet.

“He adds another option to our midfield and depth in an important position, and we look forward to working with him.”

Walsh will not be eligible for Tuesday’s Leasing.com Trophy game against Walsall and will link up with his new team-mates for the first time at Ryton on Thursday, ahead of the SkyBet League One clash with Blackpool.
