INTERVIEW: "We Need To Be At Our Best Tomorrow"

The Sky Blues travel to the New York Stadium...

4 October 2019

Following last week’s 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers, the Sky Blues head into this weekend’s fixture with Rotherham Untied still unbeaten in League One.

Currently there are only three teams in England still unbeaten in the league, Liverpool and fellow League One side, Ipswich Town.

This weekend will mark City’s eleventh league fixture of the season and Robins is looking for his side to continue in the same manner they have done up to this point against Rotherham United.

“We need to focus on ourselves and making sure we can continue in the same manner.

“We’ve been pretty good, certainly at home and I think against Doncaster it was a tough game but we played some really good football but again there’s bits where we can improve  and we need to be at our best tomorrow because I think they’re a good side, Rotherham.”

The Sky Blues have currently drawn all four of their games away from home this season during their unbeaten run.

Mark Robins’ side will be searching for a first win on the road and the manager believes to do so, he’s side has to be better.

“We have to be better. We’ve been very close on a few occasions and really if you go back to the first away game against Bolton we won it, we’ve won the game.

“Clearly we only got a point from it, and if you look at the facts we drew 0-0 but we had two goals disallowed that were absolutely nailed on and had we won that then obviously you’ve got a precedent and we’re not talking about this but I think it’s reasonable to say that we have to be a little bit better.

“Oxford was a great opportunity even though I thought we were second best for a lot of the game, there’s a lot to learn from that game and hopefully we’ve learnt it because we’ll need to take that learning into the rest of the season and really tomorrow because it’s a challenging game for us.

“It’s a great stadium, great supporters and I think it’s a really good opportunity for us to go and show what we’re about.”
