On-loan winger Luke Thomas continues to eye a play-off position after the Sky Blues’ 2-2 draw with Barnsley.
The 19-year-old was energetic throughout and scored one of the vital goals in the game alongside Jordy Hiwula.
“It’s a big ask but we are going to do all we can to pick up as many points as possible and get as close to the play-offs as we can,” he said.
“We all believe that we can snatch it and come the end of the season be in the top six.
“We are on a high at the minute because we have been playing really well the past few weeks, despite the result against Oxford last week.
“We have got to play Doncaster in our last game of the season and that could be a massive game.
“Hopefully they can drop a few points and we can pick up a few.
“It could be vital.”
Thomas’ goal was his fifth in Sky Blue colours and he spoke about both his and Hiwula’s equalisers to the local press.
“I’ve been told to go down my right-side more and I’d been doing that for a lot of the game in the first-half and at the start of the second-half.
“So, I thought I’d do something different and cut in on my left foot and beat the defender, I’ve hit it as hard as I could and thankfully its hit the back of the net.
“Jordy is an excellent finisher, you put your house on him to score in those positions, and he did, he could’ve even had another in the second-half.”
At the conclusion of the interview, Thomas expressed his determination to improve.
“The gaffer last week said I should be on about 30 goals.
“I’ve had a lot of chances this season, and I want to keep improving, so to put another in is a massive relief and you could see that from my celebration.
“I’ve been getting into great positions consistently and going for goal, I’m just looking for the penny to drop and them to fly in.”
