Sky Blues defender, Brandon Mason believes him and his team mates were well-worthy of three points at the Wham Stadium.
City came away with the win after Bright Enobakhare’s third goal of the season just after the hour mark was enough to see off Accrington Stanley.
The win extends City’s unbeaten run to five games and closes the gap on the top six to just five points, something Mason isn’t ruling out.
He said: “We dug in deep today against a good side, on a tough surface I thought. We tried to play from the off and we were worthy of three points.
“It’s tough because we like to play wherever we go so the feeling doesn’t change but when you get a surface like that you have to manage the game at certain times and I thought we did that in the game and it was a good win.
“Like I say, it’s a tough place to come and to keep a clean sheet for us as a back four and the team was great that’s another one to add to what we have.
“We’re on a positive run at the moment and you can see it every day in training everyone’s working really hard pushing to our target which is the play-offs and we’re going to go back to the drawing board now and look forward to the next game.”
Mason played a pivotal role in the only goal in the game, winning the ball back on the half-way line and shrugging off his man and finding Bright in the middle.
The defender was confident throughout the game that City would create an opening and heaped praise on Enobakhare for his finish.
“It’s games like that you have to just stick it out and stay positive.
“We know we’re going to create chances in every game we play and when we have so many good players like Bright, we knew something can always happen.
“I won the ball and drove out from the back and gave it to Bright and he did the rest.
“The way we like to play, we like to build play and we need that creative player to make things happen and we have a few of them that can make the difference and I think Bright did that today.”
