Coventry City can confirm that Fankaty Dabo has agreed a contract with the football club and will officially join the Sky Blues when his current deal expires with Chelsea.

The defender has agreed a three-year contract with the Sky Blues.

The 23-year-old Southwark born right back has progressed up the ranks with Chelsea, having signed for The Blues at Under 12 level.

Part of both Under-21 league triumph and the Youth Cup success at Chelsea, Fankaty has also represented England at Under 16, 17 and 20 levels.

Dabo spent the second half of the 2016-17 season on loan at Swindon Town, where he made 15 appearances and scored 1 goal.

The 2017-18 campaign saw Dabo on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, playing 32 games during the campaign in the Dutch Eredivisie and the Europa League.

In the 2018/19 season, Fankaty played for Chelsea in the Checkatrade Trophy before making a loan move to Rotterdam and would make 26 appearances for the side.

A powerful and fast defender, who likes to get forward, Dabo officially joins the Sky Blues on 1st July, following the conclusion of his contract with Chelsea.

Manager Mark Robins said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Fankie to the Club. He is a defender with a lot of the qualities which we need in the team as we push on next season, and will be a great addition to the squad.

“He is still only 23 but has experience both in this country and abroad, including in the Europa League, and we look forward to working with him and developing his game even further.”
